A good patient.
Leo has been sick for over a week...it started the day before we went to Texas for Christmas (I hope to blog about that soon) and he is just now finally starting to get better, though his persistent cough sounds awful right now as he naps. He had a horrid double ear infection and his face was so red and puffy that we thought he had pinkeye, but it never did get horribly pink and is so much better now, thank goodness.
He is such a good patient. He takes medicine without complaining or fighting (most of the time) and sits quietly while Matt looks in his ears (I always think of the movie Amelie when her physician dad would listen to her heart and it would beat more quickly because she loved being close to her dad - Leo gets a similar look on his face, just trust, slight amusement, patience and love).
We are heading into what is hopefully our last "hell week" of Matt's residency - HOPEFULLY - he is about to work 5 12-hour overnight shifts in a row, which means that for all practical purposes Leo and I will be on our own for five days, and Matt will be overworked and exhausted. BUT. Then Matt's parents and mine come to visit for Leo's second birthday celebration, and then my folks will be here for the winter, and Matt's schedule will lighten up, and hopefully we can start tightening up our plans for our next step - when Matt graduates from his residency in June! Stay tuned, send good energy for strength for this Mama and Papa to get through this rough week and healing vibes so we all stay healthy.
Happy New Year!
