The Greatest Conversation I've Ever Had With My Mom (or "Sometimes I realize it's true - she was a hippie")
I noticed a rambling post on my mom's facebook wall and asked about the poster. Her response was something like this:
Don't you remember me telling you about Sparkles? He's a poet. And a clown. He's still a clown today in Minneapolis. Remember me telling you about that house I lived in in Uptown with all of those people? Sparkles was the one who named everything...you know, you walk into the bathroom and there's a sign that says "Tom the Toilet."

Not Working
Today was my last day at my job. Goodbye, nice coworkers, really nice boss, and paycheck. Hello, sleeping in every morning and three months of vacation.
What my hair looked like to Matt yesterday
"It looks kind of wiglike tonight. More like a hat. Like a 14th-century hat, you know, like Spinal Tap."

I'm 30
I had a moment. Today I recognized this: I've always been a nervous person with a penchant for panic. Lately, something will trigger me to freak out about something, but I will forget what the trigger was for like 10 minutes at a time. I'll feel all nervous and crazy and rack my brain trying to figure out what made my heart start palpitating. Then, much later, I'll remember. It could be good or bad: "Oh yeah, so-and-so emailed me out of the blue and I was really excited to hear from her." "Oh yeah, I forgot to do such-and-such at work." "Oh yeah, I forgot to pay the electric bill."
This is really bad, actually.

Czech this out
Matt and I were at the mall last night, and we passed an older couple who looked very much like they just arrived from Eastern Europe. I say so and Matt responds "He still had sauerkraut in his nose hair."
